Rock Me Anaphylaxis – 5K

Nothing says Fun Run
like a Rock Me Anaphylaxis!

The purpose of this family fun event is to raise allergy, asthma and anaphylaxis awareness.

Every year, 30 – 35% of all Canadians suffer from allergies and asthma.

This run was located in Windsor, one of my favorite places to run! (Nice and Flat)

What a beautiful July day it turned out to be, running along the Detroit River to the finish line.

When we approach the finish line, all I can hear is my Niece, Sarah, cheering us on!

That was all the encouragement I needed kick Johns’ butt to the finish line. (Again!)

After the run, we headed over the the Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn, MI

I have to tell you right now, I was not overly excited to be going to a Museum all about Henry Ford!

However, I was EXTREMELY impressed!

It wasn’t a museum all about FORD or cars…It was a huge and amazing museum filled with TONS of history and cool things to look at and check out!
They even had full sized locomotives in there!!

We had a blast, learned more about US history and I was blown away with how well done this museum was!

By far my favorite part was at the entrance….as soon as you walk into the building there is a big square of cement with a shovel sticking out of it.

The cement has a man’s foot prints in it, and right there etched into the concrete is the signature of Mr. Thomas Edison himself!

He stood in that very spot at the ground breaking of the museum! How amazing is that!?!?

They also had full sized cars, including the car that JFK was shot in!

Just an amazing museum and well worth the drive! I highly recommend checking it out.

This was a wonderful weekend away, visiting family, running, and learning a bit of history at the museum!

The medal was in the shape of a guitar pick 🙂
