What an ADVENTURE!!!
Headed to Windsor for this yummy event.
Package pick up was quick, we received our shirts, bibs and wine of our choice, between red and white. 🙂
Laurie choose white, I choose red.
They also had several vendors selling merchandise. Which I love because finding running items can sometimes be difficult.
We stayed at the Howard Johnson Plaza Hotel. Check in was easy and quick. It was one of the last hotels with available rooms, so we weren’t picky. The hotel is about 6 KM to the start line. Not super close but not a bad drive straight down Ouellette Drive to the river front.
Three races were running at the same time…5k, 10K and Half Marathon.
Laurie and I were running the 10K 🙂
As usual with “running-flat” events, it was very well organized and executed.
I was disappointed that there was only one chocolate station along the route which contained plain M&M’s with a candy coating…sounds like a good idea until you eat a mouth full…Not a good idea!
More chocolate stations and variety would have been wonderful!
They really could have done a much better job with the chocolate theme, however, I was grateful for the sugar rush. The lemon-aid at the water stations was a really nice touch and very refreshing. 🙂
The course was beautiful, I will never get tired of running in Windsor, along the water with Detroit in the distance and freighters sailing by, made for a nice backdrop to this event.
There were several firefighters at the finish line handing out medals and for some reason I felt compelled to thank each and every one of them for their service. I feel like they never get enough Thank you’s
At the finish line they had the usual banana, water, muscle milk and brownie.
We also received a “Box of Chocolate” … I found this disappointing .this just didn’t seem like a very fantastic box of chocolate to me.
I guess I was expecting an actual box of chocolates? or Truffles? or at the very least a full sized chocolate bar maybe?
Oh well… we didn’t need the calories anyway, because we were saving them for ice cream! 🙂
We stopped at Dari DeLite for ICE CREAM as we were heading home…I made sure to follow the chocolate theme…chocolate soft serve dipped in chocolate and rolled in nuts!
It was SO good!! Totally made up for the lack of chocolate at the run 🙂
Unfortunately, on our way home our car broke down on the 401!! 😦
Very scary to be stuck on that highway with all the trucks flying by but with the help of a stranger, we managed to push the car to a safer location, and call for a tow truck.
It was a long, scary and adventurous ride home, but we made it safe and sound!
Another BLING to add the wall and a cool shirt to wear proudly!
FREE profession photos make this run in class of it’s own!
All in all a great event! I hope they add more CHOCOLATE to the run in the future…After all it is called the “Le Chocolat Run”
Excellent Event, and a chocolate themed Medal!!
