Shamrock Race – 1 Mile + 5K

Onto more St. Patty’s Day shenanigans!!

We arrived in the cute little town of Plymouth, MI for our second event of the weekend!

The race was to take place at Kellogg Park, which caught us off guard at first, because we were expecting a big park.

As it turns out, it was a small grassy area in the middle of town!

The town was really quaint, with lots of cute little shops to explore and ample parking.

The first few races of the season are always the toughest.

Not only are you a little out of shape, but the weather also plays a big role.

This day was no exception, the weather was a balmy -5°C and we were cold!

This event offered same day kit pick up, which was perfect for us since we were coming from out of town.

However, it would have been better if the package pick up was in the same location as the event.

As soon as we arrived downtown we couldn’t help but notice the big white tent.

They called it a warming tent, where you could warm up before and after the race.

This was a brilliant idea and a huge help!

The race started with the Rainbow Mile.

A quick out and back race to get your heart pumping.

Followed by a 5K race.

If participants completed the Rainbow Mile and the 5K they were rewarded with the Large Double Dash Medal!

Of course you know what that means, right?

We HAD to go for the extra medal!!

Bling – Bling!!

When the race was complete, we headed back to the warming tent for refreshments..

The day was cold, the shenanigans were plenty and the people were merry!

All that, added to outstanding bling and spending the weekend with my Bestie…

Couldn’t have asked for a better day!
